Each homestand, the Isotopes will publish a Q & A with one of its players or coaches, hosted by Isotopes
broadcaster Josh Suchon. In this week’s edition, Suchon talks to current Rockies in昀椀elder Ryan Ritter,
who made his MLB debut last year.
Josh Suchon: One of my all-time favorite moments was
seeing you walking on the 昀椀eld talking on the phone postgame last year after you got called up. Tell me what was that
like and who you were talking to?
Ryan Ritter: It was a great moment. I just spent the whole
night in the out昀椀eld talking to my family, my friends and
anybody who was close to me to let them know that it
happened. I was out there the whole night it seemed. By the
time I got back to the clubhouse everybody had been gone
for a while.
Suchon: The reason you got called up was because you had
an unbelievable May. Describe the zone you were in during
that month.
Ritter: I was ready to play everyday, I felt really good. I was
grinding towards getting to the big leagues. And I felt that’s what I had to do to force their hand. After the
昀椀rst time I got PCL Player of the Week I was like let’s do that again. After it happened again the second
week, I almost got it a third week. I felt great.
Suchon: Everywhere I look I see the word elevate. What does that word mean to you when talking about
the Rockies this year?
Palmquist: We just want to elevate our game. We have higher standards this year and we want to reach
new heights.
Suchon: When you play for a manager who is as physically 昀椀t as Warren Schae昀昀er is, what is that like
when he is your manager?
Ritter: You got to respect that, he’s put in a lot of work to look like that. It’s good to play for him. He has
the same kind of energy that the players have, which makes it a lot of fun to play for him.
