Sam Hilliard, playing in his 昀椀fth season for the Isotopes,
became the all-time home run leader in Albuquerque’s
professional baseball history when he connected on his
80th dinger during the April 25 game at Reno. He 昀椀nished
with 93 homers as an Isotope.
A few months later on August 16 at Oklahoma City, he
tallied his 26th career triple with the Isotopes, becoming
the club’s all-time leader in triples.
On the 昀椀nal day of the season, Hilliard was honored as
the Isotopes’ MVP and Fan Favorite, the eighth player in
club history to garner both awards in the same season.
After starting in center 昀椀eld, he was taken out in the top of
the 昀椀fth to standing ovation.

Hilliard also became just the eighth Triple-A player (sixth
in the Paci昀椀c Coast League) since 2005 to record 25+
doubles, 10+ triples, 15+ homers and 15+ stolen bases.
For the 昀椀rst time in club history, the Isotopes recorded
three-straight walk-off wins from May 15-17 against
Tacoma, including an eight-run comeback on May 16 to
win, 15-14, in 12 innings.
On September 7 at Tacoma with a lefty on the mound, Veen raced home as the frantic throw from the pitcher sailed to the backstop, joining Eric Reed
(June 20, 2007, at Oklahoma) as the only other Isotope to have a straight steal of home.
Staying in Tacoma, Tanner Gordon delievered one of the best starts in Isotopes history Sept. 4, spinning 8.0 scoreless innings in a 3-0 win. It was just
the 11th time an Albuquerque pitcher has 昀椀nished an outing with 8.0+ scoreless frames.
